Straight answers, including the inconvenient ones.
Everything below is checked against the actual product before it ships. For the full story on how we test strategies, read the methodology and Strata Score pages. Something missing? Email hello@strataalgo.com.
The engine
You compose strategies from a catalog of 302 Pine-verified entry signals across 46 families — indicators, session and structure conditions — plus entry filters and a full risk bracket. The engine evaluates rules on bar closes against two and a half years of CME futures data from Databento (volume-rolled continuous, back-adjusted) across ES, NQ, RTY, YM, CL, and GC. Orders fill at the next bar open — you see the signal at the close, you get the next print, not a fantasy mid-bar fill.
The Strata Score
A 0–100 composite built from five weighted components: backtest performance (30%), Monte Carlo reshuffle (25%), out-of-sample stability (20%), trade count and consistency (15%), and lift over a random-strategy baseline (10%). Scores map to grades — 90+ is A+, 82+ A, 74+ B+, 65+ B, 50+ C, 35+ D, below that F. The score exists to kill fragile strategies before you fund them, not to flatter the ones you like.
Pine export
Yes — Builder strategies export as Pine Script v6, configured to fill at next bar open so the Pine matches the engine's execution semantics rather than silently using a different fill model.
Prop-firm validator (Strata Web)
Six today: Apex Trader Funding, TopStep, Tradeify, Lucid Trading, MyFundedFutures, and Alpha Futures, at the common 25K–150K account sizes. Each rule set encodes the firm's drawdown type and calculation (end-of-day trailing vs intraday, lock behavior), daily loss limits, profit targets, minimum trading days, and payout-relevant consistency rules.
Plans, billing, and trust
There's no free tier — Strata is paid-only so the market data and backtest compute aren't subsidized by free usage. Instead, every plan is backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee: if it's not for you, email us within 14 days for a full refund. Plans are Pro ($49/mo) and Vault ($199/mo), with two months free on annual billing.
Futures and derivatives carry substantial risk. Backtest results do not guarantee future returns. Strata is software — not investment advice.
